Algot

Algot is a duo that uses the zither and fiddle to deliver rhythmic folk music. Inspired by the song traditions of the province of Ångermanland, they perform their own works. Mattias Mårtensson, who is primarily a percussionist, with progressive rock as his starting point, uses his zither to put out challenging rhythms alongside Magdalena Eriksson's more-traditional based fiddle music. This is a inspiring mixture of heavy riffs, effects, interaction, innovation and tradition, and results in a fun experience which the audience perceives as more than two people playing. In 2011 they won the national final in Musikdirekt and then the international final for the Imagine festival in Brussels.

At Umefolk they are releasing their debut album "Inom", which can be purchased after the concert and at the festival office.
