Ulrika Bodén

At  Umefolk 2012, this singer from the forests of Ångermanland released her CD Kôrksangern, a continuation of Ulrika's treasure hunt amongst folk music from her home grounds. After a year with many concerts and overwhelmingly positive reception for the CD, Ulrika Bodén and friends are back in Umeå for a concert at the church Mariakyrkan.

Her repertoar includes psalms, beautifully and creatively translated into the local Junsele dialect by the poet Nicke Sjödin. With Nicke's down-to-earth and human parabels, creative choice of words, and a language that makes the texts virtually sing of their own accord, the listener's ears are transfixed and the well-known tunes sound like something new.

Mariakyrkan Sunday 24 February. Time: 3 pm.
